Hello partners,
I am pleased to share preliminary counts from Utah’s portion of the Intermountain West Shorebird Survey from fall migration 2024. This report also includes preliminary results of the regional surveys. Our 116 community science volunteers and partner biologists counted 525,971 shorebirds across Utah! These results prove just how critical the Great Salt Lake and associated habitats are for migrating shorebirds, and inspire me to help protect these areas for years to come.
Thank you for your support, access to your wetlands, and participation counting shorebirds with this amazing team! Please reach out to me with any questions, and planning for spring 2025 surveys is already underway.
Cheers,
Emm
