Water is vital to all life.
Here we provide ideas about how to conserve water. Additional reading is found below along with our Advocacy issues.
In this time of drought, please conserve and let us know about the innovative ways you are conserving water and why.

    Water Conservation Ideas:

    • Water deep and infrequent to encourage root growth
    • Water blue grass lawns after they start to shift to their blue color, not before
    • Raise the mower height. Longer grass blades hold moisture and provide more nutrients to extend the root system
    • Mulch around trees and flower beds to decrease evaporation
    • Use drip irrigation, where possible, to water only what needs to be watered (the roots) Remember, tree roots extend usually to the drip line, the outer edge of the leaves above)
    • Aerate lawns to encourage root growth, reduce piles of worm castings and vitalize the lawn
    • Reduce fertilizer use, especially if the lawn is undergoing stress. Fertilize in early spring and late fall to reduce cutting frequency and sustain root growth
