2014 Cache Valley (Logan) Christmas Bird Count Report

“The rain (rain? really? on December 20?) was only light but temps warm for the 2014 Logan
CBC, the 55th year we’ve counted birds at Christmas since 1955. There were 60 intrepid
observers, a high number considering the lateness of the count. Some started as early as
5:00 a.m. and by the end of the day we tallied 53,915 birds of 102 species. New species for
the count included a Black-backed Gull at the Logan Landfill and a Townsend’s Warbler at
Mack Park in Smithfield. A more detailed report and comparison with earlier years will be
available in early January.”
