Support the Allen & Alice Stokes Nature Stewardship Scholarship Endowment Fund for generations to come.

Dear Friends of the Bridgerland Audubon Society,

In order to provide a pathway for future generations to stand on the legendary shoulders of Allen & Alice Stokes, we are reaching out to our conservation community to help fund the Bridgerland Audubon Society Allen & Alice Stokes Nature Stewardship Scholarship Endowment Fund in the Quinney College of Natural Resources at Utah State University.

Allen and Alice Stokes arrived at Utah State University in 1952, and through their active engagement they were so inspirational to the local conservation community that the Bridgerland Audubon Society established the Allen W. Stokes Conservation Award. Allen was the inaugural recipient, recognizing his internationally renowned career in animal behavior and wildlife management research. In 1997, we dedicated the Logan Canyon Nature Center as the Allen & Alice Stokes Nature Center. Bryan Dixon, former Bridgerland Audubon board president, said it best at the dedication of the Stokes Nature Center: “Allen and Alice Stokes taught us to live in peace and give of our time, our talents and our charity. So we also give, and find that, in giving, we receive. And they have given again.”

Upon the 25th anniversary of the Nature Center we are establishing the scholarship endowment to ensure educational advancement for natural-resources majors, with preference given to students with an emphasis in ornithology, ecology, or biology. We hope that you will join us for this end-of-year opportunity to contribute to an enduring legacy in support of nature stewardship. All supporters great and small will be recognized as “Dippers” on our digital donor wall because the American Dipper was Al Stokes’ favorite bird. Contributions may be made online directly to the USU account (https://www.usu.edu/advancement/give/cos/bridgerland-audubon-society) or mailed to: Bridgerland Audubon Society, PO Box 3501, Logan, UT, 84323. (Please include the word “Scholarship” on the check.)

Sincerely,

Hilary Shughart, President
