Logan resident urges opposition to proposed canal project Written by Charlie Schill March 15, 2021
“This is the canal that runs through Merlin Olsen Park, Pioneer Parkway Park, Jen Johansen Park and Willow Park,” he argues. “It is a priceless place for kids — and, in some parks, dogs – to cool off and play during the summer.”

This canal runs through many parks in Logan including Merlin Olsen Central Park.
Public Comment Period Extended to March 16:

More info and comments here:

See comments by Frank Howe for the Logan River Taskforce (LRTF), and Wayne Wurstbaugh for the Bridgerland Audubon Society (BAS), with proposals for alternatives to conserve the water levels in the Logan River running through town, and preserving the vegetation along the Little Logan River.

“recommend that you consider diversion placement options as far downstream as possible even if they include pumping.” -LRTF
“The Logan River is increasingly used by recreationists and is a tremendous asset for the community. Dewatering it during droughts and seasonal low flows would greatly diminish its value. Consequently, we urge planners to leave as much water in the river as possible and to incorporate the Action Plan and Blue Trail Plan into the development of Logan River Watershed Project.” – BAS
