Birding with Bridgerland Audubon at Wellsville Reservoir.

Meet at the southwest corner of the Smith’s Marketplace parking lot at 8 AM for carpooling to our destination. Wellsville Reservoir is about 10 miles south of Logan. Participants are welcome to meet us there around 8:15 if driving themselves. We will start at the small southern parking lot near the fishing dock at 500 South 100 East, Wellsville. There is a larger parking area ½ block to the north if needed. We will follow a paved ¾ mile loop trail around the small lake. This is a great area to see overwintering ducks up close as the reservoir is quite narrow. There may be Northern Shovelers, Gadwall, American Wigeon, Scaup, Ring-Necked Duck and Goldeneyes in the area still. American Coot, Cedar Waxwings and Great-tailed Grackles are also likely. We may get lucky and see some early migrants to our area like Sandhill Cranes and Turkey Vultures that will begin returning about this time. Be alert for Wild Turkeys on the drive in as they also frequent this area.
