Rendezvous Bioblitz
Finding All Creatures Great and Small!

You’re Invited to Help the Bridgerland Audubon Society Document Logan’s Wildlife!

Saturday, May 24, 2025, Rendezvous Park, 1500 S US Highway 89-91, South Logan.

Birding 7-9 am; bugs, plants, snakes, frogs 10am-noon

Families and individuals, please help us find all living things on the Logan River Golf Course and wetlandd trails! Field experts will help identify what you capture or photograph. Add the iNaturalist app to your phone if possible. All observations will be added to a master list, and recorded on the iNaturalist database.

Notes from Jack May 19, 2025:

Good morning Bioblitzers!! Thanks to all for joining us on this remarkable journey! A few notes of clarification.

    1. Unless you plan to join the early birders, you don’t need to show up until 9 am.
    2. Following the general introduction, which I will do, we will have participants break into groups depending on their interests.
    3. In your introduction, please plan on 5 minutes or so, to get them hooked on your specialty- bugs, plants, reptiles, fish, mushrooms, etc.
    4. Please plan on helping participants who haven’t used, or added, the iNaturalist app on their phones.
    5. Each group will document what they discover on their phones, or notes, so a final list can be compiled from their data for Bridgerland Audubon to have for comparison in coming years. Each of the specialists can deliver this to me on your phones to jackisgreent@yahoo.com, unless you have a better idea!
    6. Safety for each of us, the individual, and the biotic community is always paramount, which I will mention in the introduction. Using least invasive approach will be emphasized.

We deeply appreciate having you with us!

Hello Hilary,
Our Mendon Meadows pollinator habitat is in need of your help! We want to ensure that our pollinators have a great habitat to get back to as flowers start blooming. The pollinator garden needs weeding and cleanup. Make sure you bring muck boots or waterproof shoes, clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, sun protection (e.g. sunscreen, hat, etc.), and plenty of water.

May 17, 8 am Meet at 750 N Smith’s Marketplace, SW Corner to Carpool
Art per Meg Kast

Meet at the southwest corner of the Smith’s Marketplace parking lot (750 North Main Street, Logan) at 8 AM for carpooling to our destination. Spring Hollow campground is about 6 miles east of Logan on route 89. Participants are welcome to meet us there around 8:15 if driving themselves. You may be able to park across the wooden bridge at the campground entrance. If that lot is full there is additional parking just across the highway to the north. If crossing the road on foot use extreme caution! We will follow a paved road about ¼ mile up a moderate incline along a wooded stream. There is a good dirt road we will also follow along level terrain for about ¼ mile along the river to see more open riparian habitat. We should be able to see American Dippers and swallows under the bridge. Hopefully warblers will be present in the trees and brush including Yellow Warbler, Orange- crowned and Black-throated Gray. There are usually some Spotted Sandpipers along the river too. We will likely hear Fox Sparrows and see colorful Lazuli Buntings and Black-headed Grosbeaks.
