Trip Report

8 participants in 3 cars. One of the Summer Citizens had a hand held radio for each car and that helped immensely. The new auto tour route is quite narrow and doesn’t allow for the long stops that would be needed for nature journaling, so again, I introduced the concept and showed some examples before we left but we didn’t get to do any while there. Highlights included young Black-necked Stilt chicks, Forster’s Terns fishing and hundreds of White-faced Ibis flying parallel to us up and down the canal. We had a couple of spotting scopes with us, but due to the limited pull-out areas did not get a chance to use those either. Another highlight was the stop for lunch with the whole group at Maddox in Brigham City on the way home. The new auto route ends near there on Rt. 89 now.
