Please join the Logan Ranger District, Bridgerland Audubon Society, Utah Native Plant Society, Cache Trails Alliance, Logan City, and Stokes Nature Center to help control the spread of spread of noxious weeds on our lands.
What: 6th Annual Logan Canyon Weed Day
When: Saturday, May 25, 2024, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Where: Canyon Entrance Park Pavilion (First Dam), US 89 & Canyon Road, Logan, UT

Wear protective clothing, including gloves, long pants, long sleeved shirts, sturdy footwear and bring drinking water. Some tools will be provided but bring your own heavy-duty weeding tools if you can.
The goal of this project is to help reduce and eradicate invasive weeds threatening the native plant community of the local area. Target weeds are dyers woad, burdock, houndstongue, Scotch thistle, myrtle spurge and other invasive plants. Control methods will include hand pulling, digging and possible bagging.

Join Bridgerland Audubon at the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Museum for the April 19th Gallery Walk, in conjunction with Clarissa Casper’s captioned photos in “Celebration of the Little Logan River”. Eli Lucero’s photos remind us of birds dependent on a riparian habitat. The gallery walk exhibit complements the museum’s Working Water in Cache Valley exhibit.

    Volunteer to Count Shorebirds at the Amalga Barrens Sanctuary

    Survey Date: Friday, April 26, 2024. In the event of inclement weather, Saturday, April 27, 2024 is held for our backup date.

    Signups: Sign-ups for the 2024 Spring Survey are now open!

    Fill out this brief sign-up form if you’re interested in joining us on the big survey day Spring 2024. We will do our best to match you with a preferred survey team and site.

    Survey Date: Friday, April 26, 2024. In the event of inclement weather, Saturday, April 27, 2024 is held for our backup date.

    Training Required: Please find the virtual training video as well as additional volunteer resources on the Migratory Shorebird Survey Page (SagelandCollaborative.org).

    Age: Volunteers under 18 years old require a guardian’s signature and those under 15 years old must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

    Commitment Level: A virtual training and a day-long project outdoors.

    Requirements: Work will be in and around wet areas, requiring walking over uneven surfaces (please contact us if you have questions about accessibility and potential accommodations). Also required is an ability or willingness to learn how to identify shorebirds by sight.
